Understanding Slab Formwork Systems

Slab formwork comes in two major types: conventional and modular. Conventional formwork for slab developments is made of wooden beams which are combined with loose facing and props. Modular formwork, on the other hand, comprises panels or frames with an integrated facing.

Shoring systems and/or props support the formwork, and they can be lowered during the removal or stripping process. Beams are removed along with the formwork’s components to be used in the next pouring cycle.

As with any formwork, choosing the right slab formwork system can significantly impact the execution and progress of your construction project. For this reason, it is always best to do some research, and it is particularly important to consult our formwork experts here at MEVA to ensure you obtain the most reliable and cost-efficient formwork system for your project.

MEVA’s Formwork Systems for Concrete Slab Developments

At MEVA, we have an extensive range of intelligent formwork systems, props and shoring towers made specifically for concrete slab projects of all specifications and sizes. Our product offerings are designed to help builders cut back on their construction time and labour costs while maximising their overall savings. Let’s take a look at what makes our slab formwork systems a cut above the rest.

MevaDec

The new MevaDec features a lighter and more weight-optimised system for more ergonomic and efficient work. It has the high-quality alkus® all-plastic facing and uses the drop-head-beam-panel method (FTE) that facilitates early stripping to help you save up to 40% on materials.

With MevaDec, you can reduce your construction time significantly. This slab formwork offers simple handling with panel installation from above to below and provides trouble-free connections. It is easy to clean too. Best of all, with this formwork, you will be able to utilise three slab-forming methods in just one system.

MevaFlex

Despite only having three components, MevaFlex offers an excellent level of efficiency and reliability. MevaFlex can be quite flexible as the positioning of its beams and props are not predetermined. Therefore, during the planning stage, they can be easily adjusted and optimised according to the required slab thickness. With MevaFlex, you are also free to choose the facing that will best suit your needs, including shuttering panel 3S, alkus® all-plastic facing and other alternatives.
